Gilbert receives an early Christmas present

Mr Gilbert Wilton, an 89 year old man who is a full time resident at Penberthy House. He is well known on the streets of Newquay and is known as a local legend! For the past 50 years he has been walking the streets with his wheelbarrow and is known by all the locals.

This week his wheelbarrow was stolen, which was very distressing for him. Micro DIY here in Newquay, came to the rescue and donated him a brand new one!

“This is the second time that they have donated to Mr Wilton and is such a lovely gesture. We really cannot thank them enough for their continued support.” said Ruth Beadle, administrator for the care home.

“Gilbert is an independent man who has lived in his own home for most of his life. He came to Penberthy one Sunday afternoon, knocked on the door and asked if he could come in, the rest shall we say is history.”
