Carer retires from St Breock after 43 years

Posted by cornwallcare on July 4, 2017

Staff and residents at St Breock, our residential home in Wadebridge had a lovely time recently celebrating the retirement of one of our incredible carers, Glynis Greck.

Glynis worked as a carer at St Breock for an incredible 43 years, having joined in July 1974 when she was just 20 years old.

She started work with glowing references, one from Adult Services in the London Borough of Lambeth where she had previously worked as a Domestic Assistant.

“For over 40 years, Glynis has always been totally dedicated to her work and the people she cares for. She is extremely well respected by her work colleagues, her experience has been vital to the team and her high standards have motivated others.”
Kath, Customer Services Administrator at St Breock.

Glynis has not only been a carer at work, she also cares for her elderly mother at home. She has a son and grandson; she dotes on both of them. Her grandson shares the same birthday as her mother.

She works hard, has a laugh and goes home to her Mum. She will be sorely missed.”
Kath, Customer Services Administrator at St Breock.

We wanted to show Glynis our appreciation and give her our thanks. To celebrate and thank Glynis for her 43 years of service, we presented her with some flowers and a few gifts, thanking her personally for all of the hard years of work that she has given us.

Jo Cauchi, Assistant Operations Director at Cornwall Care, represented Cornwall Care’s management team, presenting her with a gift, and the night staff also had gifts for her.

At Cornwall Care, we believe it is important to recognise and reward staff for exemplary performance and long service. Glynis is a perfect example of someone who has worked hard, dedicating her life to providing people with fantastic care.

Thank you Glynis for all your hard work over the past 43 years! We wish you all the very best for your retirement.
