At Mountford we look after people who need residential, nursing and dementia care. By working closely with each resident we get to know what makes them comfortable and happy, tailoring their care to their needs and wishes. Our close-knit team are particularly dedicated to providing the best palliative care, as well as supporting families with aftercare. We place a high value on relationships and love to socialise. We always welcome visitors.
When residents join us at Mountford, the first thing we do is develop a comprehensive care plan with them, setting out the care we aim to provide and how we will achieve this. We assess this plan on a continual basis, working with the resident to ensure that their needs are met. Care is available for our residents 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, from a passionate team of individuals.
Mountford has big, bright, open rooms with a communal area overlooking the city of Truro and the surrounding countryside. There are lots of cosy spaces for residents to relax in and enjoy the view onto the garden, as well as sensory areas to experience. We keep our home decorated with fresh flowers and personal pictures so everyone feels involved and comfortable.
Our beautiful sensory garden provides a wonderful, calm and serene retreat, where our residents and their loved ones can enjoy those sunny Cornish days surrounded by bright and colourful flowers, or engage in a spot of gardening or feeding the chickens. Our delightful tea room also provides the perfect space for relaxing and indulging in a Cornish cream tea.
Our home is cosy and relaxed, with a team who are passionate about caring. Mountford is one of several care homes owned and operated by Cornwall Care, a not-for-profit charity and the largest provider of care homes in the county. Cornwall Care has a reputation for genuine and loving care for residents and we at Mountford are proud to share that. Our aim at Mountford is to provide the very best care possible in a caring and dignified environment, supporting our residents’ individual needs.
Individuality and community are important to us; everyone at Mountford is part of our community, including residents, staff, relatives and visitors. You can sense the homely and relaxed atmosphere as soon as you walk through the door and there is always laughter and music coming from our main room. We have lots of activities to stimulate the mind and body, as well as regular trips to nearby towns and fun local events. We have quite the active social life!
We offer a range of activities designed to stimulate body and mind and each week, our Activities Co-ordinator will prepare a varied list of organised activities designed to meet the social, physical, spiritual and environmental needs of our residents. We encourage friends and family members to join us. In addition to our regular activities, entertainers and performers visit on a frequent basis and seasonal events, such as Christmas and birthdays, are always celebrated. Residents' loved ones are welcome to visit and we are able to accommodate small parties and gatherings to celebrate these occasions on request as well.
At Cornwall Care we ensure that our staff are supported. We know how important it is to understand our residents and their illnesses, particularly dementia and mental health, which can often be misunderstood, so we make sure that all our staff are trained in dementia care and ethics.
We are nationally recommended and awarded for our training and career development. Our aim as a team is to provide loving support for all our residents, promoting awareness, safety and most important of all, individuality.
