Pengover is a 36 bed nursing home for people in need of dementia care. We care for our residents 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and we like to believe that we perform a little magic here. Our staff promote independence and understand different illnesses. They are highly trained, professional and passionate about their roles and the lives of our residents. Our lovely home is located in the ancient market town of Liskeard and we would love for you to see it. Visitors are welcome any time.
At Pengover we offer nursing care and support for people with dementia. By combining a professional approach with a firm focus on the individuality of every person who lives with us, we really get to know our residents and develop a relationship with them that is based on understanding and empathy. Our staff are all passionate about the work that they do.
When residents join us at Pengover, the first thing that we do is develop a comprehensive care plan with them, setting out the care we aim to provide and how we will achieve this. We assess this plan on a continual basis, working with the resident to ensure that their needs are met. Care is available for our residents 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Visitors are always welcome.
Pengover is set in the ancient market town of Liskeard, 20 miles west of Plymouth. Built for the comfort and wellbeing of the people we care for, our lovely home is surrounded by large, safe gardens that were originally designed by our residents. The gardens are wheelchair friendly with level lawns and pathways, which can be accessed at any time. There are also three large conservatories and four lounges, where our residents can enjoy sitting down with a good book, taking part in our scheduled activities, or taking a little nap in the afternoon sun.
Our home is relaxed and comfortable, designed around the residents that live here. Pengover is one of several care homes owned and operated by Cornwall Care, a not-for-profit charity and the largest provider of care homes in the county. Cornwall Care has a reputation for genuine and loving care for residents and we at Pengover are proud to share that. Our aim at Pengover is to provide the very best care possible in a supportive, dignified and caring environment.
Individuality and freedom are important to us; at Pengover there are many lovely spaces that are ideal for reading, relaxing, watching films or television, pursuing activities or having conversations with friends and relatives. It is entirely up to our residents how they wish to spend their time, whether that means flicking through a magazine or getting out in the grounds for a bit of gardening, they have their own choices. Residents and their families are encouraged to suggest activities and entertainment for the home, to take part in our events and get involved, but ultimately, it is completely up to them.
Each week, our Activity Co-ordinator will prepare a list of activities. If you would like to find out more or get involved, please speak to a member of our team at Pengover.
At Cornwall Care we ensure that our staff are supported. We know how important it is to understand our residents and their illnesses, particularly dementia and mental health, which can often be misunderstood, so we make sure that all our staff are trained in dementia care and ethics.
We are nationally recommended and awarded for our training and career development. Our aim as a team is to provide loving support for all our residents, promoting awareness, safety and most important of all, individuality.
We appreciate that choosing the right home can be difficult. If you would like to find out more about Pengover please contact us. We can provide you with the information you need or arrange for you to meet the Home Manager in person.
