St Breock is a 37 bed residential home for older people with physical health needs or dementia. We care for our residents 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, in a supportive, dignified and calming environment. Our staff promote independence and understand different illnesses. They are highly trained and passionate about the lives of our residents. Our unique home sits in the centre of pretty Wadebridge and we’d love for you to see it. Visitors are welcome any time.
At St Breock we look after residents with physical health needs, dementia and mental health conditions. We have excellent support from our local District Nurses and GPs, as well as fantastic links with our local community in Wadebridge. Our staff are passionate about the work they do and we have a fun and engaging environment to enjoy.
When residents join us at St Breock, the first thing that we do is develop a comprehensive care plan with them, setting out the care we aim to provide and how we will achieve this. We assess this plan on a continual basis, working with the resident to ensure that their needs are met. Care is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Residents’ families are always welcome to visit.
St Breock is set in the heart of pretty Wadebridge, with lots of accessible shops and cafes. It is close to the beautiful Camel Trail which leads to Padstow and is within a short drive of the annual Royal Cornwall Show, a popular local event that we often enjoy. St Breock has an excellent reputation within the town; it is a home run by the residents, for the residents. Divided into two wings and containing 36 rooms, it has a wonderful conservatory leading onto a small enclosed garden, a large lounge area which is the hub of our activity, and a quiet, smaller lounge where residents can relax or have a little nap.
We have two tropical fish tanks situated in reception and the lounge, as well as a house cat called Flora. We are often visited by other friendly, well-behaved pets too.
Our home is relaxed and comfortable with an active atmosphere. St Breock is one of several care homes owned and operated by Cornwall Care, a not-for-profit charity and the largest provider of care homes in the county. Cornwall Care has a reputation for genuine and loving care for residents and we at St Breock are proud to share that. Our aim at St Breock is to provide the very best care possible in a supportive, dignified and caring environment, supporting our residents’ individual needs.
Individuality and activity are important to us; at St Breock we’re always busy. Our residents enjoy a variety of activities, from gardening, knitting, word games, painting, singing and cooking to hand massage and manicure. Many members of the community visit St Breock, using us as a drop-in centre to socialise or as day care and our residents can have visitors at any time. Between our residents, visitors and our pets, we have a delightfully entertaining environment.
We have an activity calendar and we welcome people to join us in the fun and games. If you would like to find out more or get involved, please contact a member of our team at St Breock.
At Cornwall Care we ensure that our staff are supported. We know how important it is to understand our residents and their illnesses, particularly dementia and mental health, which can often be misunderstood, so we make sure that all our staff are trained in dementia care and ethics.
We are nationally recommended and awarded for our training and career development. Our aim as a team is to provide loving support for all our residents, promoting awareness, safety and most important of all, individuality.
