Trengrouse is a 41 bed nursing home for people in need of dementia and mental health care. With qualified nurses and carers, we look after our residents 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, in an uplifting, friendly and warm environment. Our staff are passionate about their roles and get to know each resident individually. Our gorgeous home is located close to the heart of Helston, a town famous for its annual Flora Day. We would love for you to see it! Visitors are always welcome.
At Trengrouse we specialise in dementia nursing care, supporting our residents so they can continue to make their own choices. A close relationship with the people we care for and their loved ones is very important to us. We always find out what works for each individual to make sure that everyone feels comfortable, contented and happy. Trengrouse is a home from home and it’s this family atmosphere that helps us to create the best person-centred care.
When residents join us at Trengrouse, the first thing that we do is develop a comprehensive care plan with them, setting out the care we aim to provide and how we will achieve this. We assess this plan on a continual basis, working with the resident to ensure that their needs are met. Care is available for our residents 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, from a passionate team who truly cares.
Trengrouse is situated close to the heart of Helston, a town famous for its annual Flora Day. Our home is built on one level for ease of access and an open-plan layout that creates lots of space to encourage movement. We have some wonderful outdoor areas that are safe for our residents to enjoy, as well as some lovely bright and colourful rooms. The natural light that floods into the building keeps everything sunny and airy, which adds to the serenity.
The general feeling at Trengrouse is quiet contentment; it is uplifting, friendly and warm. We take pride in our welcoming and friendly environment and enjoy strong relationships and links with our local community, who visit us often.
Trengrouse is one of several care homes owned and operated by Cornwall Care, a not-for-profit charity and the largest provider of care homes in the county. Cornwall Care has a reputation for genuine and loving care for residents and we at Trengrouse are proud to share that. Our aim at Trengrouse is to provide the very best care possible in a supportive, dignified and caring environment.
Individuality and creativity are important to us; we love to receive visitors and come up with fun and lively events for our residents. We have many activities from dancing, singing, crafts and exercises to ceramic pottery painting and other arts. We also have various organisations visit us throughout the year offering therapies, including the Lizard Stallions and Pony Therapy, The Bongo Drumming Man, Greg the musical therapist and many others.
We enjoy regular pantomimes throughout the year, as well as frequent trips out. We make sure to take suggestions for outings and in the past have enjoyed visiting places such as the Eden Project, where we went wheelchair ice skating, and our nearest camel farm! There are lots of activities for our residents to choose from, as well as nice social spaces if they just want to relax. We also recognise special occasions such as Valentine's Day, Christmas and residents' birthdays, and like to raise funds for other charitable organisations when we can.
Every week, our Activities Co-ordinator will prepare a list of organised activities. Relatives and residents can also book appointments with the Co-ordinator to ensure activities are person-centred and loved ones are also welcome to join in. If you would like to find out more or get involved, please get in touch with a member of our team at Trengrouse.
At Cornwall Care we ensure that our staff are supported. We know how important it is to understand our residents and their illnesses, particularly dementia and mental health, which can often be misunderstood, so we make sure that all our staff are trained in dementia care and ethics.
We are nationally recommended and awarded for our training and career development. Our aim as a team is to provide loving support for all our residents, promoting awareness, safety and most important of all, individuality.
We appreciate that choosing the right home can be difficult. If you would like to find out more about Trengrouse please contact us. We can provide you with the information you need or arrange for you to meet the Home Manager in person.
