Christmas fun for all

Christmas fun for all

Christmas is a time for getting together and enjoying some festive fun. And you’re never too old to do that.

100-year-old Gladys Brown and 10 other residents were recently taken from our Redannick and Mountford Care homes in Truro to the Eden Project, where they enjoyed 40 minutes of ice skating in wheelchairs – a first for many of them. Afterwards, they explored more of the attraction with carers, family and friends.

Manual wheelchairs are welcome on the ice rink by prior arrangement, with up to five allowed per skating session. Eden also has its own wheelchairs that people can borrow on request.

But ice skating is only the start!

You can take to the floor and dance to your favourite Christmas tunes, wrap up warm and head outside for a short walk to work off those festive treats, get creative with an arts and crafts class or sit down and play a board game. There’s plenty of fun to be had regardless of age.

We have a range of specialist activities available at our care homes that reflect the interests and capabilities of the people we care for. We also organise regular trips around the local area – like our visit to The Eden Project.

Our Day Care service is an opportunity for those who may not have family or friends nearby to visit one of our care homes during the day. It’s a great way of meeting new people, enjoying delicious home cooked meals and taking part in the activities on offer, whilst still retaining the independence of living at home. This can be especially important at this time of year, when people often feel isolated and lonely.

If you’d like to find out more about the support we offer, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
