Decorating our Cornwall Care Christmas Tree

Decorating our Cornwall Care Christmas Tree

Cornwall Care has been donated a Christmas tree and lights by A&P Falmouth, A&P Cluster Team and A&P Marine Designs.

We are delighted to say that Cornwall Care has been donated a Christmas tree and lights to be displayed at the Falmouth Christmas Tree Festival. It was recently announced that A&P Falmouth, A&P Cluster Team and A&P Marine Designs have generously agreed to sponsor the festival meaning that this much loved community event can go ahead again this year. The three companies have grouped together to purchase and donate a number of trees with lights and we are very grateful for their kind donation.

The Festival will run from Sunday 1 December 2019 until 2 January 2020. The trees will be displayed at Falmouth’s Princess Pavillion – along the veranda, on the bandstand and in the foyer. Our tree will be decorated on the afternoon of Friday 29 November and we feel it would be wonderful if all of our residents and clients across the services participated by making their own decorations for the Cornwall Care Christmas Tree so spread the word.

The theme for this year’s festival is ‘Treasure Island’. The festival organisers have asked everyone involved to be mindful when choose materials to make the decorations. We have been asked to do all we can to ensure that we support the commitment to be as plastic free as possible. Any plastics that have to be used should be reusable and/or recyclable, so please bear this in mind when making your decorations.

All decorations need to withstand wet and windy weather as, although the trees are sheltered under the veranda, inevitably they are affected by damp and windy conditions. It is recommended not to use salt dough, even when varnished, as sadly it does not fare well and the decorations will disintegrate. Please ensure decorations are fastened securely to the trees with wire because if they are hung with loops they will get blown off the branches.

So… start making your wonderful decorations now so you have enough time. Don’t forget that the theme is Treasure Island. Trevern are organising this due to being in Falmouth and are happy to take your decorations with them on the afternoon of 29 November. Just pop them in the post at least a few days before the event. Alternatively, if you would like to join in the fun on the day, then feel free to come along. To find out more about this event, please contact Trevern on: 01326 312833.
