Flipping pancakes with Cornwall Care

Residents of Cornwall Care's residential and nursing homes had a wonderful time this week, getting involved in Pancake Day/ Shrove Tuesday celebrations. Hundreds of pancakes were made and residents enjoyed various tasty toppings and pancake flipping.

At Chyvarhas, our nursing home in Callington, residents had a brilliant time mixing the batter and watching Ed, the Activities Co-ordinator, flipping pancakes. They enjoyed toppings of strawberries, banana and ice cream, as well as the traditional favourite, lemon juice and sugar.

"There were many happy faces," said Helen Lepper, Receptionist at Chyvarhas.

In Carbis Bay Cornwall Care has two homes, Headlands care home and Trewartha nursing home. Both homes participated in the day with residents flipping pancakes and tucking in, having an entertaining and enjoyable time, reminiscing about the old days.

At Woodlands, our residential home in St Austell, we also had fantastic fun taking turns to flip the pancakes. Our residents' laughter filled the dining room.

More yummy pancakes were enjoyed at Penberthy, our care home in Newquay, and Trengrouse, our nursing home in Helston.

"We served pancakes during the day with a variety of fillings and our residents had fun with flipping them", said Julie McNaughton, Manager at Trengrouse. "Let's just say, we had frying pans everywhere. We also had pancakes stuck to various places, some spills and lots of chuckles! On the whole, we made over 100 pancakes!"

Getting involved in seasonal activities is an important part of Cornwall Care's activity calendar and this is just a snapshot of the fun that we have across our homes.

We believe that independence and activity are extremely important and we at Cornwall Care continually strive to create fun, entertaining and engaging events for our residents to enjoy.
