Halloween at Headlands

Residents and staff at Headlands thoroughly enjoyed Halloween celebrations.

There was spooky music, dancing (everyone loves the Time Warp), games, loads of goodies and some cheeky sherry and Prosecco. All residents and staff had a wonderful time. We also had a visit from Balto - a rescue therapy dog who often comes in to spend time with our residents. He loved everything apart from the balloons which were a bit scary for him!

We played the ‘mummy wrap game’ which was great fun. The ‘mummies’ who took part were Daphne (one of our residents) and Liam from Newcross, who were wrapped by carers Kirby and Jenny, Tracey, our Activities Co-ordinator and Estelle (another of our residents).

The history of Halloween goes all the way back to a pagan festival called Samhain. The word Halloween comes from ‘all hallows’ eve’ and means hallowed evening. Hundreds of years ago, people dressed up as saints and went door to door, which is the origin of Halloween costumes and trick-or-treating.
