Making bird treats and dreamcatchers at Headlands

Posted by admin on January 16,2019

Headland residents recently took part in a creative crafts session.

Residents made some really great treats for the local birds and also made their own version of dreamcatchers.

A dreamcatcher is a handmade object based on a hoop with a woven made web of sinew strands in it that has feathers, beads and crystals attached. The idea originated from the Native Americans of the Great Plains. It is a beautiful object and is associated with an interesting legend.

The belief is that the air is filled with dreams. These dreams are full of meaning and may be either good or bad. There are different versions of the dream catcher legend and how it works. The main thing is that because dream catchers are beautiful and because the idea of protection from nightmares is compelling, dream catchers have become very popular.
