Redannick and Truro in Bloom 2019

Posted by admin on January 15,2019

A recent visit from our Mayor of Truro, Lindsay Southcombe, brought us some very welcome news here at Redannick.

Lindsay and her Deputy Parks Manager Liam Shoesmith, have very kindly offered to create something gorgeous from an unused area of our garden below the Blue Wing.

The Mayor is working with Liam on a project called Urban Buzz. This project was set up in August 2018 involving Cornwall Council who are working in partnership with Buglife and the Eden Project, as well as Truro City Council and Falmouth, St Austell and Wadebridge Town Councils to create buzzing, wildflower-filled spaces for people and pollinators.

Urban Buzz will create 10 ‘Buzzing Hotspots’ in parks, road verges, community gardens and other unused patches of greenspace in each of the four locations. These Buzzing Hotspots can be anything from wildflower meadows to pollinator-friendly flower beds; from early flowering trees and hedges, to bee hotels & bee banks.

Lindsay and Liam are sure to create something fantastic for our residents and their families to enjoy. We cannot wait to see the finished result and will be entering this into this year’s Truro in Bloom competition. Thank you so much to Lindsay and Liam. If anyone wants to help these lovely people create a buzzing hotspot, please contact Redannick on 01872 276889.

Truro in Bloom was set up to promote the objectives of the National Britain in Bloom competition. To beautify the City of Truro and its immediate environments by encouraging its traders, residents and schools to decorate their premises with floral displays and to ensure by a co-operative effort of the whole community that the City of Truro is an attractive place to live and work.
