Residents and staff at Penberthy have been having a lovely time recently, enjoying lots of fun activities and events in the sun.
To celebrate the coming of Spring, residents and staff at Penberthy have so far enjoyed several trips out, including the Eden Project, Newquay Zoo (where we met some lovely animals) and the café at the boating lake, where we enjoyed some tasty cream teas and a chin-wag.
At Penberthy we also enjoy lots of regular activities and entertainment in our home.
We recently introduced a new regular activity to our calendar, Fish & Chips Night, which was started off a little while back when Mo, our Customer Relations Administrator, was saying goodbye to a resident one evening and was told how much he fancied fish and chips. She went off and ordered some for the gentleman, bringing it back for him and for the other residents who fancied it too.
Since then, Fish & Chips Night has been a monthly event and includes a film screening. It is now a huge success with our residents. Despite having different needs and abilities, everyone “tucks in with heads down, just like at home”.
“As you can see they absolutely loved having fish and chips from the paper. The smell really evoked some memories and so many of the residents with dementia became so animated and actually sat down – the looks on their faces showed it all.” Mo Knowles, Customer Relations Administrator at Penberthy
Sometimes it can be the simplest things that make the biggest difference.
