Trewartha hold their own dog show

Trewartha’s held their very own dog show “Trufts” on Friday 13 March and it was a great success.

The dog show was held in the main lounge at Trewartha. Visitors and staff were invited to bring in their four legged friends to compete for a host of prizes. There was also an opportunity for dogs to use the garden, we had plenty of poop bags and anti-bacterial wash and plenty of dog treats too.

Categories included the dog with the kindest eyes, the most senior couple, the best married couple, the hairiest face category and the best performing trick. So many residents wanted to be involved and some even wanted to be judges. Our residents’ dogs Poppy the golden retriever and Ben the cairn terrier also took part. The residents got so much joy from seeing their own dogs and other peoples’ dogs competing.

Visitors who attended included Caroline Abrahams and Anne Weatherly. Staff who came in on their days off included Tracey Broadfield, Juliette Trevethick, Mike Tuck and Anna Billinger. Tracey’s mother-in-law Anne Davison also came in to volunteer her help.

One of our residents, Gordon, said that it was a difficult choice for him to make when deciding who should win first place as they were all beautiful, but to him agility was the most important thing. Vic, one of our other residents, chose his winners because he was able to have them on his knee and they gave him a cuddle!

Ben won the dog with the hairiest face category, the dog with the kindest eyes went to Michelle Johnson’s Skippy the lurcher, the most senior couple went to Juliette & Mike’s Stanley and Lottie, the best married couple went to Anna’s Joey and Daisy, the best performing trick went to Tracey’s Tilly the cockapoo who entertained the residents with her exceptional twirling and rolling over.

The residents absolutely loved this special day, as did the visitors and staff who took part. All of the contestants behaved impeccably, were kind natured and worked really hard. Here are a few pictures from the show.
