Trewartha in Carbis Bay near St Ives has been ranked in the top 20 for the fourth year running in the annual Care Home Awards.
The awards are run by the national care homes review website www.carehome.co.uk and recognise the top 20 care homes in each region of the UK, based on reviews given by family and friends of relatives in the home.
Trewartha is a 37-bed home specialising in dementia and nursing care and scored 9.9 from a possible 10. Its latest inspection by independent care regulator the Care Quality Commission ranked it outstanding for the responsiveness of its care, and good overall.
Robert Black, chief executive of Cornwall Care, said: “This award is richly deserved and reflects the dedication and enthusiasm of our fantastic staff at Trewartha. It means so much because it is based on actual reviews by friends and family of people in our care, and you can’t get a better recommendation than that.”
Among the many positive reviews for Trewartha cited by www.carehome.co.uk was the following from 20th February this year: “My experience is when visiting my aunt. Trewartha House has an amazing feeling of warmth and sensitivity, efficiency and professionalism. The building and its lightness plus the fantastic enthusiasm and warmth of the staff is amazing particularly compared to other homes I have visited. There is always a staff member to find and nothing is too much trouble. This is how it should be done.”
Another family member said: “A fabulous home where the staff cannot do enough for the residents. I cannot recommend Trewartha enough, my mother has been here since October and she has been looked after extremely well by everyone from the manager to every member of the care team. It’s a fantastic place.”
The www.carehome.co.uk surveys are designed to help inform people about the standard of care in individual homes and to help care home operators benchmark their performance against other care providers.
