Trewartha is celebrating after being recommended as one of the top 20 care homes in the South West.

Trewartha, our nursing home in Carbis Bay, near St Ives has been ranked in the top 20 for the fifth year running in the annual Care Home Awards.

The awards are run by the national care homes review website and recognise the top 20 care homes in each region of the UK, based on reviews given by residents as well as family and friends of relatives in the home.

Trewartha is a 37-bed nursing home for people in need of dementia support and scored 9.9 from a possible 10 in its review scores. Its last inspection by independent care regulator the Care Quality Commission ranked it outstanding for the responsiveness of its care, and good overall

Anne Thomas, chief executive of Cornwall Care, said: “This award is richly deserved and reflects the dedication and enthusiasm of our fantastic staff at Trewartha. It means so much because it is based on actual reviews by friends and family of people in our care, and you can’t get a better recommendation than that.”

Among the many positive reviews for Trewartha cited by was the following from 24th January this year by one of our volunteers: “Very welcoming staff, residents engaged in activities and the home had a pleasant atmosphere. There was an activities coordinator speaking with people individually and giving assistance.” He said he would highly recommend Trewartha as “a great home to anyone in need of care.”

The reviews are designed to help inform people about the standard of care in individual homes and to help care home operators benchmark their performance against other care providers.
