Chinese New Year celebrations at Woodland House

Posted by admin on February 8,2019

On Tuesday 5 February it was Chinese New Year which celebrated the Year of the Pig and we had a day full of fun at Woodland House seeing in the New Year!

One of the most popular games of the day was the ‘chopstick challenge’ where we had to try and pick up delicious treats using the chopsticks. Anything that we managed to pick up we could eat. We had such a lot of fun as you can see from the photos here.

We also had a great Chinese dinner which was prepared by our wonderful kitchen staff with fortune cookies to accompany the dinner. Thank you to the kitchen staff for such lovely food. It was enjoyed by everyone.

Chinese New Year is a Chinese festival that celebrates the beginning of a new year on the traditional Chinese calendar. Each year they celebrate a different animal related to Chinese zodiac. This year it is the Year of the Pig. The pig is the twelfth of the 12-year cycle of animals which appear in the Chinese zodiac related to the Chinese calendar.
