Woodland House celebrate Dignity in Care

We had a great day at Woodland House yesterday celebrating Dignity in Care.

Our day started with the lovely Jen leading the ‘Monday Movers’ Chair Yoga’ group. This activity is always popular and seats fill up fast! We also had a creative morning painting birds for our ‘dignity tree’ and discussing what dignity means to us, what we do well and what we could be doing better in respecting the dignity of people in general.

Unfortunately our entertainment was cancelled but we had a quick whizz around and set up some games instead. The morning made way for an afternoon full of fun which ended by drinking lashings of tea and eating delicious cakes made by our lovely kitchen staff.

Dignity in Care is a campaign set up in November 2006. The aim was to put dignity and respect at the heart of UK care services. In support of this campaign, people from all walks of life sign up as Dignity Champions to help promote independence, well-being and quality of care and of life. The champions are also there to help empower people, make time to listen and aim to treat everyone as a unique individual. To find out more about this very worthwhile campaign, please click here.
