Christmas card competition launched

Posted by cornwallcare on April 16, 2020

With summer on the horizon it may seem bizarre but, with many of us having a lot of lockdown time to fill, Cornwall Care is launching a Christmas card competition.

Entries are being invited in five different age brackets on the theme of ‘Caring for Cornwall’. Winners in each category will have their design turned into cards that will then be sold to raise funds for the charity.

“I know it’s strange to be focused on Christmas at this time of year but, let’s face it, coronavirus has turned our lives upside down,” said Cornwall Care’s Fundraising Manager Jan Burns.

“Most of us are stuck at home for at least another three weeks so we thought we’d offer the opportunity of getting creative for a very good cause.”

Our company looks after more than 650 vulnerable people in sixteen homes across the county, plus another 500 in the community. More than 1400 staff have been working hard during the pandemic to keep those they care for as safe and well as possible – with administrative employees voluntarily joining their frontline colleagues whenever additional support is required.

“This is an extremely challenging time for everyone who works in social care and I’m incredibly proud of the way everyone who works for Cornwall Care has stepped up to the mark and is willingly giving their all during this crisis,” said CEO Anne Thomas.

“We’re hoping this competition will encourage those taking part to think about why care is such an important profession and I’m really looking forward to seeing the designs.”

The five age categories are: 0-5 years; 6-10 years; 11-15 years; 16-20 years and 21+ years. Entries close on 1 June and winners will be announced by 15 June.

Each entry should be submitted on an A4 sheet of paper and posted to Jan Burns, Fundraising Manager, Support Office, Cornwall Care House, Truro Business Park, Threemilestone, Truro, TR4 9NY.
